(AllHipHop News) According to reports, Joey Bada$$ and his Beast Coast collective were forced to cancel a show in the Detroit area over potential danger. A mass shooting threat was called into police departments ahead of the outdoor concert.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s #BeastCoast Escape from New York Tour at Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill is canceled. Refunds are available at point of purchase,” tweeted the @MILotteryAmp Twitter account on August 11.
“Obviously in today’s world and [things] going on recently, we have to take each threat seriously,” said Sheriff Anthony Wickersham. “We were going to put additional deputies and undercover officers in and around the venue, and later this afternoon I found out the event was canceled.”
The alleged threats came just over a week after a mass shooting happened near the Ned Peppers Bar in Dayton, Ohio. Nine victims were killed and twenty-seven others were injured in that incident. Bronx rapper Cardi B postponed a recent concert scheduled for Indiana’s Bankers Life Fieldhouse because she purportedly faced threats as well.
Beast Coast is made up of members from Pro Era, The Underachievers, and Flatbush Zombies. The New York City-based super-group released the Escape From New York album in May then launched the North American “Escape From New York Tour” in July.
